o    People influence your decisions and the Course of  Your Life

o    Relationships are a key factor in shaping our lives

The Direction our lives take, the Values we hold, the Choices we make

o    The Devil arranges destructive connections and relationships

o    God arranges divine connections and relationships

o    Need to Value and Honor those relationships

 

3.      Honour is a Key to Kingdom Advancement

4.      Encounters with Jesus are a Key to Kingdom Advancement

o    Strong traditional Religious background

o    Entered Marriage with a deeply broken heart

Broken relationship over years

Pregnancy out of wedlock…shame, fear, secrecy

Reality…sin and failure in leadership and responsibility

   (i)   Truth Encounter:

Ecc 4:9  Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.

Ecc 4:10  For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.

Ecc 4:11  Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone?

Ecc 4:12  Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

o    Personal Response to Christ during the message: Fail without Christ

   (ii). Power Encounter

o    Period of the Hippy Movement…rebellion, drugs, love, flower power, rebellion against authority

o    Generation lost without Move of Holy Spirit….,  late 60’s early 70’s Charismatic Movement,

o    Jesus Movement….Summer of love

o    God disrupted our plans for overseas travel

o    Teachers college…….Voted in president student union

o    Encounter with Holy Spirit Baptized in the Spirit supernaturally

o    David born Sept.22nd 1972…..dedicated in church in revival

o    Moved to Dannevirke to small town 5000

 

5.      Decisions/Choices We make are a Key part of Kingdom Advancement

 

o    One of the greatest gifts we have received from God is a free will…the power to make choices

o    We arrive not by chance but as a consequence of decisions and choices

o    We see the success of others …but not the decisions and sacrifices

o    By wisdom is a house built

 

o    Some decisions are big…majority are small but shape our chapter and form our life direction

o    Abraham:    Built Altars…place of sacrifice, encounter with God

 

o    Some of the Key Decisions I have made:….Foundational to life journey

   (i).   Serve

§   Mat 20:26  Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.

Mat 20:27  And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—

Mat 20:28  just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

§  Available ……Decision to serve in High School and also in our local Church

§  Available…….Prayer, Youth Group, counseling, music, serving s

 

   (ii).   Priority of the Kingdom of God

§    Mat 6:33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall

            be added to you.

§   Revelation of the Coming Kingdom, Eternal rewards..dramatic transformation

§  Authority, Water Baptism, Righting wrongs, Managing finance, removing idols

 

   (iii)   Repentance and Faith

§    Mat 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of 

           heaven is at hand."

§  Deep repentance for failure as a man and as a leader…abandoning daughter, wife

§  Committed to build a godly marriage and family

§  Committed to pray for lost daughter, believe for her return, and fully acknowledge her

§  Josephine…present with us today

 

   (iv)  Altar of Commitment to Christ

§  Mat 16:24  Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Mat 16:25  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

§   Laid down security and career of teaching  job to obey the calling of God

§   Cross is not just a historical event but a way of life …serving

 

   (v).   Faithfulness to Christ and His Calling

§    2Ch 16:9  For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

§  Gave up career and started Christian School in Dannevirke…radical move

§  Unexpected resistance by family and friends

§  Pastor betrayed his calling and people and abandoned the church and people

§  Key decision to remain, not abandon the work called to,  and dishonor the name of the Lord

 

   (vi)  Lifestyle of Prayer and Worship

§    Joh 4:23  But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

Joh 4:24  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

§  Developed discipline every day to arise before 5:00AM and seek the Lord

§  Became a man or prayer and worship…love God with all heart…affections and will

    

   (vii)  Build a Generational Legacy

§    Deu 6:5  You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Deu 6:6  "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

Deu 6:7  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

§  Pro 13:22  A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children

§  Chose to dismantle old patterns, to lead our family and build new patterns

§  Honor what has been good, remove what has been harmful, build for next generation

§  Family prayer, Bible, evenings, holidays individual time together

§  Jos 24:15  And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

 

   (viii) Commitment to Personal Heart Transformation

§    Psa 84:5  Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.

Psa 84:6  As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.

Psa 84:7  They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion.

§  Acknowledged very broken and weak and needing healing and restoration

§  Humbled self to seek personal ministry and help to grow and change

 

These are the Foundational Commitments of Sons and daughters of God

o    Sons are intimate with their Father

o    Sons are engaged in extending Fathers Kingdom

o    Sons embrace fathers transformation process

 

6.      Every Generation Must Face its Challenges

 

o    Our Generation……saw a Move of God

Charismatic Movement, Jesus Movement …generation in rebellion, hippies drugs, sex, rock and roll,

Vietnam War, prospect of nuclear war, fear, a generation needed God to move

The Charismatic Movement and Jesus Movement impacted a generation with a move of God

 

o    A Generation can be Lost

Numbers14:     Moses:  A Generation lost their inheritance

Luke19:4.         Jesus:  A Generation missed their time

 

o    This Generation faces enormous challenges

 Lost Generation….Is There not a Cause ?

 

Destruction of Biblical Principles, Marriage, Family, Sexuality, undermining of culture, foundations

 Growth and increase of drugs, broken families,

 Lack of Fathers, hopelessness and despair

 Sexual abuse, sex trafficking, Pornography

 Increase in poverty,  Capitalism moved by greed and without compassion, Socialism false hope

 

o     We need men and women and young people

Who will fully embrace Christ and His Calling?

Who will commit to grow and become strong believers?

Who will prioritize the Kingdom of God and learn its principles of building

          Who will prepare and become engaged with the culture and advance the Kingdom

Who will break free of destructive patterns become great marriage and family builders?

 

o    We need Older People who will pray for and mentor the next generation

Pray, engage, help them grow, encourage them

 

o    We need a Church that prays, and is passionate for revival and community change

Strong passionate prayer

Hungry for the King and His Kingdom
